Mechanical Project Engineer

### Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to work on Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) projects. The role involves developing mechanical engineering designs, selecting process equipment, performing technical calculations, and ensuring that mechanical systems meet project requirements.

You will work closely with process, civil, and electrical engineering teams to develop practical design solutions and support project execution, including equipment installation, testing, and commissioning.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in mechanical design for wastewater treatment projects, along with the ability to manage technical documentation and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.

### Key Responsibilities

**1. Mechanical Design & Engineering**
- Develop mechanical designs for sewage and wastewater treatment plant projects.
- Prepare equipment arrangements, mechanical layouts, and piping-related drawings.
- Design and review mechanical systems required for different stages of wastewater treatment.
- Ensure that designs comply with project specifications, applicable engineering standards, and safety requirements.
- Coordinate design modifications based on project requirements and technical feedback.

**2. Equipment Selection & Technical Evaluation**
- Identify and select suitable mechanical equipment based on plant capacity and process requirements.
- Work on the selection and specification of pumps, blowers, mixers, screens, aeration systems, and sludge-handling equipment.
- Review vendor quotations, technical specifications, and equipment datasheets.
- Evaluate supplier drawings and technical submissions to ensure compliance with design requirements.
- Coordinate with procurement and vendors to resolve technical queries.

**3. Engineering Calculations**
- Perform equipment sizing and mechanical engineering calculations.
- Carry out pump and pipeline sizing based on flow requirements and operating conditions.
- Calculate pressure losses, flow rates, and equipment power requirements.
- Verify technical parameters to ensure equipment performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Review calculations and incorporate necessary changes during the design process.

**4. Technical Drawings & Documentation**
- Prepare and review mechanical engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Develop General Arrangement (GA) drawings, equipment layouts, and piping layouts.
- Review Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) in coordination with process engineering teams.
- Prepare material submittals, technical specifications, and fabrication-related drawings.
- Maintain design documentation and ensure timely submission as per project schedules.

**5. Project Coordination & Site Support**
- Coordinate with civil, electrical, and process engineering teams to ensure proper integration of mechanical systems.
- Work with vendors, contractors, and project teams to resolve design-related issues.
- Provide engineering support during equipment installation and alignment activities.
- Assist during testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment.
- Address technical issues arising at project sites and recommend suitable engineering solutions.

### Required Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech).
- 8+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design for STP projects.
- Strong experience in equipment selection and engineering calculations for sewage/wastewater treatment plants.
- Practical knowledge of pumps, blowers, mixers, screens, aeration systems, and sludge-handling equipment.
- Experience preparing and reviewing mechanical layouts, GA drawings, piping layouts, and technical datasheets.
- Understanding of pump sizing, pipe sizing, flow calculations, pressure losses, and power requirements.
- Experience supporting equipment installation, testing, and commissioning at STP project sites.
- Proficiency in engineering drawings and design tools, preferably AutoCAD.
- Good communication, coordination, and project management skills.

### Preferred Skills

- Working knowledge of SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor.
- Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external vendors.
- Exposure to complete STP project execution, from design development to commissioning.
