For more than 17 years, Safetyline Jalousie has manufactured high-performance louvre windows in Australia, specified on hospitals, schools, high-rise residential, defence and government projects nationally. We're launching an integrated façade-and-controls platform, and we're hiring a Controls Engineer to grow with it. This is a new role, giving you the opportunity to help shape the business unit from the ground up.

This is a broad, hands-on role for an early-career engineer who wants to own a technical patch end-to-end, not a narrow graduate rotation. You'll develop the complete controls solution for each project and support it from design stage through to commissioning, working with architects, fire engineers and installers along the way. You'll receive structured technical training and ongoing product and application support from SE Controls (UK), the global leader in smoke and natural-ventilation control.

What you'll do:

  • Develop controls solutions for SJ louvre projects, including product selection, system configuration and interfaces

  • Prepare control schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation from architectural drawings and window schedules

  • Define control philosophies and cause-and-effect requirements, including interfaces with BMS and fire alarm systems

  • Translate project and fire-engineered requirements into the appropriate smoke ventilation controls solution, in line with the NCC, AS 1668.1, AS 1670.1 and EN 12101-2

  • Support architects, mechanical consultants and fire engineers with controls specification

  • Support installers and contractors with commissioning and fault-finding, and provide first-line technical and warranty support

What we're looking for:

  • A mechanical, electrical or building services background with 1–3 years of industry experience (HVAC, BMS, controls, building automation, or fire and smoke systems)

  • CAD capability (AutoCAD or Revit), or the appetite to develop it quickly (training supported)

  • Comfortable reading architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings

  • An understanding of control philosophies, cause-and-effect, BMS protocols (BACnet, Modbus) or fire alarm interfaces is highly regarded

  • Customer-facing confidence when working with architects, engineers and contractors

  • Current driver licence for site visits, and a Working With Children Check or willingness to obtain one

  • Australian work rights; based within reach of Mona Vale, Northern Beaches NSW

Working arrangements:

•     Office-based at our Mona Vale (NSW) facility, Monday to Friday

•     Onsite parking

•     Company vehicle available for site visits

•     Regular site visits across Sydney, plus some interstate travel

What we offer:

•     Career progression as the business unit expands

•     Real responsibility in a small team, working closely with our Director

•     Exposure to major projects across education, healthcare and government

•     Australian-made products, manufactured on site at Mona Vale
