Help New Zealand schools access better drinking water testing

Bactosure is looking for an experienced salesperson to help us bring our accredited drinking water testing service to schools across New Zealand.

We have a qualified list of approximately 300 schools that need drinking water testing, and we're looking for someone who can turn those opportunities into customers before the end of the school year.

This is a short-term, work-from-home contracting opportunity with a guaranteed weekly retainer, uncapped commission and a clear list of prospective customers to work from.

About Bactosure

Bactosure is a New Zealand company changing the way drinking water is tested.

Our innovative service enables schools and other water suppliers to test their water on-site and receive IANZ-accredited results within 16 hours, without sending samples to a laboratory.

We're growing quickly in New Zealand and expanding internationally. This role is an opportunity to help schools access a practical solution to an important problem.

What you'll be doing

You'll take ownership of an existing list of schools, contacting decision-makers, explaining how Bactosure works and helping them get started.

Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Contacting schools by email and phone, following up professionally and consistently.

  • Speaking with principals, property managers and school boards to understand their current drinking water testing arrangements.

  • Running short online demonstrations and explaining how our service works.

  • Preparing quotes, following up and closing new customer agreements.

  • Keeping customer records and opportunities up to date in our CRM.

  • Working with our commercial team and existing channel partners to coordinate opportunities.

We'll provide product training, sales materials, suggested scripts, a CRM and support from our team. You bring the sales experience, initiative and follow-through.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for someone who enjoys selling, is comfortable picking up the phone and knows how to turn a conversation into a customer.

You'll ideally have:

  • A proven track record in B2B sales, including examples of deals you've personally closed.

  • Confidence making outbound calls and following up with prospective customers.

  • An approachable, professional communication style that works well with school principals and administrators.

  • The ability to explain a technical product or service in simple, practical terms.

  • Strong organisation skills and the discipline to manage your own time and sales pipeline.

  • Experience using a CRM.

Experience selling to schools, local government, water utilities or technical service customers would be an advantage, but it's not essential.

We're more interested in your ability to connect with people and close sales than your knowledge of water testing. We'll teach you what you need to know about our service.

What's on offer

  • $42 per hour + GST, plus uncapped commission.

  • 12% commission on the first six months' value of each new school contract you secure, payable after the customer's first payment.

  • Fully remote: Work from anywhere in New Zealand.

  • School-friendly hours: Monday to Friday, 9am–3pm.

  • Warm starting point: A qualified list of approximately 300 schools, rather than having to find your own leads.

  • Clear objective: Help us sign up 50 more schools before the end of the 2026 school year.

  • Support: Training, CRM access, sales resources and direct access to our commercial team.

This is an independent contractor engagement for approximately eight weeks, starting as soon as we find the right person. You'll need your own computer, phone and reliable internet connection, and the right to work in New Zealand.
