Senior Backend Developer (Java / AWS) Rate: £500-£600 per day (Outside IR35)
Location: London (3 days per month onsite)
Duration: Initial 6-month contract
Overview We're supporting a financial services client looking for a Senior Backend Developer to help deliver and optimise a suite of cloud-native services. This is a hands-on engineering role with significant involvement in solution design, technical direction, and code quality.
What You'll Be Doing Developing scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot
Designing and building RESTful APIs and event-driven solutions
Deploying and maintaining applications within AWS environments
Contributing to architecture, engineering standards, and best practices
Supporting CI/CD processes and Infrastructure as Code initiatives
Participating in code reviews and mentoring other developers
Key Skills & Experience Strong commercial experience with Java (ideally Java 21+) and Spring Boot
Proven background building cloud-native applications on AWS
Experience designing microservices and API-based architectures
Good understanding of containerisation and cloud deployments
Exposure to Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK
Financial services experience would be advantageous
