About the role

We're looking for a fun, self-directed, proactive, enthusiastic and energetic team player to work alongside our residents at Merivale Retirement Village in Christchurch.

You will organise and coordinate activities and outings for our independent living residents in the village. Tasks could range from driving the minibus, to organising an event, to decorating the venue for themed dinners. 

This role is working 20 hours week, shifts as follows:

  • Saturday 09:30 – 13:00 (3.5 hours)
  • Sunday 09:30 – 13:00 (3.5 hours)
  • Monday 09:30 – 16:00 (6 hours)
  • Tuesday 09:30 – 17:00 (7 hours)

Some of the great things you will be doing:

  • Contribute to the Village run calendar of events and organise functions & outings 
  • Connect with community groups & organisations on new & exciting activities.
  • Contribute to the Village newsletters, flyers and social media posts
  • Support the use of technology to enhance social connectivity, such as virtual events.
  • Driving our Village bus and escorting residents on excursions

Skills and Experience Required:

We are looking for a sociable, and creative thinker who can organise great events for our residents. Other things that will make you a great Social Coordinator:

  • having a Full and clean full NZ Driver's License (to drive the automatic mini bus) 
  • Current First Aid certificate - preferable but training can be provided
  • being enthusiastic, creative, outgoing and can think outside the box.
  • Confident in preparing written material, posters, newsletters - with an eye for detail.
  • Confident in MS Suite - Word, Outlook essential and other Apps desirable.
