EcoCentral is seeking a Class 5 Transport Operator to support the safe and efficient movement of waste and recyclable materials between our transfer stations and processing sites.
At EcoCentral, this role is critical to keeping our sites flowing, maintaining stock levels, and supporting landfill diversion outcomes. You will operate hook trucks, gantry trucks, and truck and trailer units across Christchurch EcoDrops (Styx Mill, Metro, Parkhouse Road), and other local sites. This is a Monday to Friday position, 7.00am to 4.30pm, offering consistent hours.
Key Responsibilities
Operate Class 5 truck and trailer units, including road ranger vehicles
Complete manual logbooks, pre-start checks, and defect reporting
Transport scrap metal, hook bins, gantry bins, and bulk materials between sites
Ensure loads are secured and transported in line with legal and company requirements
Support safe operations across public-facing transfer stations
Maintain high standards of professionalism as a representative of EcoCentral
About You
Class 5 licence with truck and trailer experience
Proven road ranger experience
Strong logbook knowledge with no infringement history
Comfortable with the hands-on aspects of gantry and hook operations
Positive attitude, reliable, and willing to learn
Clear communication skills and the ability to remain calm and professional on site
We are looking for someone motivated by stability and long-term work rather than chasing overtime. This role suits someone who values a consistent Monday to Friday structure and being home on weekends.
