Contract: Permanent

Recruitment Partner: Karen Nicholson

What you'll be doing

As Finance Manager – Technology, you’ll sit at the centre of an evolving Technology function, partnering closely with senior leaders to shape financial performance, guide investment decisions and strengthen accountability across the cost base. This is a hands-on business partnering role where your insight will help leaders understand performance, make better choices and balance value, risk and business priorities.

Reporting to the Head of Finance – Technology, you’ll own financial management for your areas, from budgeting and forecasting through to month-end reporting and performance reviews. You’ll also play an important part in improving reporting and finance processes, helping make insight clearer, faster and more useful for the wider business.

Based in Nottingham, this is a strong opportunity for a qualified accountant who wants meaningful exposure across Technology and Finance in a large, complex organisation where commercial judgement and constructive challenge are genuinely valued.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted finance partner to Technology leaders, providing clear insight and constructive challenge on operational and strategic decisions
  • Own the day-to-day financial management of assigned Technology areas, including budgeting, forecasting and month-end performance reporting
  • Analyse financial and operational data to explain variances, identify cost drivers and highlight risks and opportunities
  • Translate complex financial information into clear, practical recommendations for non-finance stakeholders
  • Lead regular performance reviews, agree corrective actions and support accountability against budgets and targets
  • Support the development, review and governance of Technology investment cases, assessing costs, benefits, options and risks
  • Recommend trade-offs that balance value for money with wider business priorities
  • Work closely with FP&A, Financial Control, Procurement and other finance teams to ensure consistent planning, reporting, accounting and governance
  • Maintain strong financial controls, including appropriate treatment of expenditure, accruals, commitments and investment
  • Identify and implement improvements to reporting and finance processes using data and technology to improve clarity, speed and usefulness of insight

What you'll need to have (our must-haves)

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Finance business partnering experience in a complex organisation
  • Confidence building relationships with senior non-finance stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and month-end reporting
  • Experience developing or reviewing business cases and supporting investment appraisal
  • Confidence and diplomacy to influence decisions and challenge constructively
  • Clear, concise communication skills with the ability to make complex financial information accessible to non-finance audiences
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and confidence working with large or complex data sets
  • Strong organisation, adaptability and resilience, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A proactive, improvement-focused mindset and the persistence to see changes through to completion

It would be great if you also have

  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to weigh cost, value and business priorities
  • Knowledge of Technology cost drivers, supplier contracts and investment appraisal
  • Experience working in a matrix organisation with multiple stakeholder groups
  • Experience presenting financial analysis and recommendations to senior leadership level
