Since 1909, ADR has helped keep communities and businesses running with utility technology products, services, and expertise. Proudly New Zealand owned, we partner with energy utilities, water authorities, local authorities, manufacturing, farming, and agriculture sectors.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Wellington based team!
About the Role
As a Control Systems Engineer, you'll help deliver automation, telemetry and monitoring solutions for customers across New Zealand's water, utility, infrastructure and industrial sectors.
Working alongside our Solution Architects, Project Managers and Field Service teams, you'll be involved in the full project journey, from configuring and testing systems through to commissioning, troubleshooting and customer support.
This is a great opportunity for someone with some relevant experience who wants to continue building their career and gain exposure to a wide range of technologies, industries and projects.
Key Responsibilities
You'll play an important role in helping us deliver reliable, practical solutions for our customers. Your work will include:
Providing remote and on-site technical support when issues arise
Configuring and programming PLC, RTU, SCADA, HMI and telemetry systems
Developing control logic, alarms, trends and operator displays
Integrating field equipment and third-party systems using industrial communication protocols
Testing, fault-finding and commissioning systems both in the workshop and on customer sites
Preparing technical documentation and working closely with customers and colleagues to deliver successful project outcomes.
About You
You're someone who enjoys solving problems, learning new technologies and getting stuck in when things need to be done. Ideally, you'll bring:
A relevant engineering qualification, trade qualification, or equivalent practical industry experience
Experience working with PLCs, RTUs, SCADA, HMI, telemetry, or industrial automation systems
Knowledge of industrial communications such as Modbus, DNP3, Ethernet and TCP/IP networking
Practical testing, commissioning and fault-finding skills
Strong communication skills and the ability to build good relationships with customers and colleagues
A positive, hands-on approach, with the ability to work independently, contribute to a team environment, and travel occasionally within New Zealand as required.
Experience in water, wastewater, power, utilities or other critical infrastructure industries would be an advantage but isn't essential.
