About the role
NZ Labour Hire Group is seeking experienced Class 4 & 5 Civil Drivers to join our growing team in New Plymouth, based at Mt Messenger. This is a 3- to 6-month contract offering an exciting opportunity to work in the road transport and civil engineering sector. You will be responsible for safely operating and managing heavy vehicles on civil construction projects, contributing directly to the success of our operations across the region. This role is essential to maintaining our high standards of service delivery and safety compliance on site.
Key responsibilities
Operate Class 4 and Class 5 heavy vehicles safely and professionally in accordance with all traffic laws and company policies
Transport materials, equipment and personnel to and from civil construction sites
Perform pre-operative and post-operative vehicle inspections and report any mechanical issues or damage
Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations and site-specific safety requirements
Communicate effectively with site supervisors, project managers and other team members
Ensure vehicles are kept clean and well-maintained throughout the working day
Assist with loading and unloading of materials and equipment as required
Comply with all weight limits, load securing requirements and road traffic regulations
What we're looking for
Current, valid New Zealand Class 4 and Class 5 driver's licences with a clean driving record
Proven experience driving heavy vehicles in civil construction or similar industries
Prepared to work Monday to Saturday on request
Ability to work independently and follow site-specific instructions
Able to pass our Drug Test and pass our Ministry of Justice check
Physical fitness to perform manual handling duties as required
Reliability and punctuality with a positive attitude to work
Experience with GPS systems and modern vehicle technology is advantageous
