About the role
Tranzurban is looking for safe, reliable passenger service champions to help keep Wellington and the Hutt Valley connected. You will operate buses across seven days on a rotating roster, serving your local community as a professional driver.
Key responsibilities
Drive buses safely and reliably across Wellington and the Hutt Valley
Follow scheduled routes, timetables and safety procedures
Provide friendly, respectful and down-to-earth service to passengers
Communicate effectively with passengers and demonstrate strong customer-service skills
Maintain a safe and clean driving record
Work a rotating roster, including early starts, late finishes, weekends and public holidays
Drive confidently in busy urban environments
About you
You enjoy working with people and are dedicated to providing a high standard of customer service. With strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner, you respond professionally to a variety of situations. You thrive in fast-paced environments, remain calm under pressure, and are committed to ensuring every customer feels valued, informed, and supported throughout their journey.
You must currently hold:
A full Class 1 New Zealand driver licence held for at least two years
Ideally, you would already hold class 2 or above with a passenger endorsement.
Please clearly state your current licence class and whether you hold a Passenger endorsement when applying.
You will also need:
To have a safe and clean driving record
Show confidence driving in busy urban environments
To be able to work a rotating roster, including early starts, late finishes, weekends and public holidays
Hold New Zealand residency or a valid New Zealand work visa with a minimum of 2 years remaining.
Have reliable transport to your assigned depot or sign-on location
Have a strong understanding of New Zealand culture, values and everyday expectations

Benefits
Qualified driver rate of $32.57 per hour
Guaranteed to offer a minimum of 80 hours per fortnight
