This is a hands-on senior role combining technical expertise with project delivery, client engagement and leadership. You'll take ownership of electrical design outcomes while working alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, project managers and technical specialists.

Whether you're leading a design, working through a complex technical challenge with a client or mentoring another engineer, you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine contribution to the projects you work on and the team around you.

The Opportunity

You'll work across the full project lifecycle, from understanding client requirements and developing concepts through detailed design, construction support, testing, commissioning and handover.

You'll remain technically hands-on while taking greater ownership of engineering outcomes, working closely with clients and multidisciplinary project teams, mentoring developing engineers and contributing to the continued improvement of our electrical engineering capability. Your role will include:

  • Leading the development, review and delivery of electrical engineering designs for industrial and infrastructure projects.
  • Working directly with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements, define scopes and develop practical, fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.
  • Preparing and reviewing electrical design documentation, including single-line diagrams, schematics, general arrangements, equipment schedules, technical specifications, calculations and design reports.
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance throughout design, construction, testing, commissioning and handover.
  • Ensuring engineering deliverables meet relevant Australian Standards, legislative requirements, client specifications and Alliance Automation quality requirements.
  • Coordinating technical deliverables in line with project schedules, budgets and agreed outcomes.
  • Providing trusted engineering advice to clients, project teams, contractors, suppliers and site personnel.
  • Contributing to design reviews, technical risk assessments, estimating, procurement and commissioning activities.
  • Collaborating across electrical engineering, control systems, instrumentation, operational technology and project delivery teams.
  • Mentoring and supporting graduate, junior and intermediate engineers in their technical and professional development.
  • Building strong client relationships through sound technical advice, clear communication and consistent delivery.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, tools, systems and design processes.
  • Promoting a strong culture of health, safety, environment and quality across all project activities.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for an experienced electrical engineer who combines strong technical fundamentals with the ability to communicate well, solve problems and take ownership of engineering outcomes.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A recognised tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least five years of relevant electrical engineering experience within heavy industry, mining, water, manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, utilities or a related environment.
  • Experience in the design, construction, commissioning or maintenance of industrial electrical installations.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, design methodologies and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Experience developing and reviewing electrical drawings, specifications, calculations and other engineering deliverables.
  • Experience with industrial electrical systems including power distribution, motor control, protection systems, switchboards and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical design software such as PowerCAD or equivalent.
  • An understanding of control systems, instrumentation, industrial communications and operational technology environments.
  • Experience coordinating technical activities and engineering deliverables across multidisciplinary projects.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers and internal teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with the confidence to make sound technical decisions.
  • A practical, accountable approach and a genuine commitment to safety, quality and delivering a good outcome for the client.
