About us
We're The Seats, a Wellington hospitality business doing a bit of everything. Contract catering, cafes, big events and cleaning, across sites all over the region. No two weeks are the same, and we like it that way.

The role
This is your patch. We're after an experienced bookkeeper to take full ownership of our books, 2 to 3 days a week. You'll be responsible for every entity and every Xero file, and you'll run the relationship with our accountant. When the accountant needs something, you're the one who makes it happen. When something doesn't add up, you're the one who finds it and fixes it.

What you'll own

  • Bank reconciliations across all our Xero files, kept up to date every week

  • Accounts payable from start to finish: supplier invoices, statements and batch payments

  • Hubdoc, making sure every transaction is coded and every receipt is found

  • Supplier accounts, catching duplicates, overcharges and credits owed

  • Payroll checks, making sure wage costs match the rosters

  • GST returns and month end, done right and on time

  • The relationship with our accountant, as their main point of contact

You'll bring

  • 5+ years of bookkeeping experience

  • Solid, recent Xero skills (Xero certification is a bonus)

  • Hands on Hubdoc experience

  • A hospitality background. You know how food suppliers, rosters, wages and cafe takings work

  • The confidence to run several entities and keep them all straight

  • A friendly, clear way of explaining the numbers

  • A strong sense of ownership. You don't wait to be asked, you just get it done

  • Bonus points for Smartly or RosterElf
