Have a strong affinity for digital marketing? Love delivering remarkable client experiences?

Join our growing central city agency; supercharging digital connections and results.

We’re looking for an experienced Digital Account Manager to join our team at Empire9 for around 30 hours per week. It’s a role with plenty of ownership and variety, working alongside a genuinely good bunch of people.

We’re open to how those 30 hours are structured and are looking for the right person first and foremost.

From the team:

“at Empire9
great work with great people too
this job is the best”
- A Haiku by Annabelle

“I feel pretty lucky to work somewhere with realistic expectations, where you can bring your whole self to work, have a laugh, and yes, even make the odd silly TikTok. What I value most is feeling genuinely listened to and encouraged to give things a go, knowing there’s support while you figure it out. Having a boss who creates real psychological safety, champions new ideas, and helps you find your superpowers is rare. Even better, they shape the role around what you’re great at. Five years in and I’m still here — which, for a millennial, is kind of wild!”
- Claire

Who we are:

The agency for what comes next.

We’re a talented team of digital marketing experts specialising in SEO/GEO, SEM, Display, Social Media, Content Marketing, Email Marketing, Reporting and Analysis.

We relish new technologies, hang our hat on results, and work with heart and grit. Our roll-up-your-sleeves mentality sees us working as an extension of our clients’ internal teams to make the magic happen.

Take advantage of our hybrid working model, operating from our central city office two days a week, with the flexibility to work from home the other three.

But the best parts of our culture are intangible. We’re talking about feeling heard and valued in meetings—irrespective of experience level. Having the flexibility to attend appointments or work from home. Leaving your work at work when you walk out the door. And, you know, looking forward to Mondays because your colleagues are genuine, nice humans.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the primary point of contact for your clients. Own the relationship.

  • Own and manage your book of work, working towards agreed revenue targets and identifying opportunities for growth.

  • Assist in creating the digital strategy for your clients and provide digital consultancy.

  • Internally manage projects for your clients.

  • Work collaboratively with other team members to get the job done—on time and on budget.

  • Advocate for the client to ensure we’re not just ticking boxes. Meet objectives, challenge norms and keep innovation at the heart of everything we do.

  • Collaborate on proposal writing and client pitches.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Ability to provide remarkable client experiences (our clients stay with us for years… and this is one of the main reasons why).

  • Commercially minded—you’ll be comfortable talking budgets, spotting opportunities and helping grow the clients you work with.

  • Strong project management skills (aka, the ability to efficiently and effectively get things done yourself and through other people).

  • Digital marketing experience (and most importantly, the ability to learn & grow, stay on top of current trends, understand a client's business quickly and focus on results).

  • You'll have analytics skills and know if it's worth doing it's worth measuring.

If You’re a Good Fit, You Probably:

  • Thrive in a small and growing team.

  • Are able to work across a wide range of clients and industries (from cake and waste disposal to property and auto parts).

  • Are the kind of person who sees something that needs doing and gets on with it.

  • Are naturally curious about businesses: how they work, what makes them grow and where digital can make a difference.

  • Enjoy reading books, listening to podcasts and taking courses to grow yourself.

  • Find yourself evaluating the customer experience on every website you visit.

  • Feel at home using project management tools.

  • Are comfortable in front of clients, on the phone, on video calls, crafting emails, and Slack.

  • Genuinely care about people—your clients and your team.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years as an Account Manager (where you were responsible for client relationships and success).

  • Minimum of 3 years Digital Marketing experience (desirable).

  • Experience working inside a marketing agency serving external clients (desirable).

  • Tertiary qualification in marketing (or equivalent).

  • A focus on the details.

  • Eligible to work in New Zealand.
