About the Role

We are seeking an Analytical Chemist to deliver high-quality analytical testing in support of GMP pharmaceutical development and manufacturing programmes. As part of the Analytical Team, you will work across production, development and external client samples, generating reliable data and helping projects progress efficiently.

This is a practical laboratory role combining routine and non-routine analysis, accurate documentation, instrument operation, laboratory housekeeping and continuous improvement. You will work within GlycoSyn’s quality system and contribute to safe, compliant and inspection-ready laboratory operations.

About You

You are a careful, solutions-focused analytical chemist with strong chromatographic and quantitative analytical skills. You take ownership of data quality, documentation and laboratory safety, and you work constructively with colleagues across analytical, process development, manufacturing and quality teams.

What You’ll Do

GMP analytical testing

  • Perform cGMP-compliant analysis of samples from GlycoSyn production, development programmes and external clients.

  • Operate chromatographic and other analytical instrumentation and assess data accurately and efficiently.

  • Prepare clear, complete and traceable analytical records and reports.

Methods, protocols and documentation

  • Apply and support analytical methods using HPLC/UPLC/IC, GC, IR spectroscopy, titration including Karl Fischer, mass spectrometry and related techniques.

  • Write, execute and report analytical stability protocols.

  • Write, review and update standard operating procedures, methods and laboratory documentation.

Quality systems and continuous improvement

  • Work within GMP quality systems and support deviations, corrective actions and change control processes.

  • Contribute to procedural reviews, laboratory training and improvements in efficiency, quality and safety.

  • Maintain personal training compliance and follow records and document-management requirements.

Laboratory operations and safety

  • Share responsibility for laboratory housekeeping, equipment care and general laboratory duties.

  • Identify and address workplace hazards, incidents and unsafe conditions in accordance with health and safety requirements.

  • Collaborate with laboratory colleagues and internal project teams to support timely, high-quality delivery.

What You’ll Bring

Essential

  • A tertiary qualification in chemistry or a closely related discipline.

  • Extensive practical experience using chromatography to assess organic compounds.

  • Experience with quantitative analytical techniques and modern chromatographic instrumentation and LC columns.

  • Experience working within a GMP-focused quality system.

  • Strong attention to detail, data integrity and accurate documentation.

  • Ability to write and review standard operating procedures.

  • Working knowledge of Waters® Empower® software and proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.

Desirable

  • Experience with HPLC/UPLC/IC, GC, SEC, IR, NMR, mass spectrometry and titration, including Karl Fischer.

  • Experience supporting pharmaceutical development, stability studies or GMP manufacturing.

  • Experience contributing to investigations, corrective actions, change control or analytical method improvement.

Why Join Us?

  • Contribute directly to the development and manufacture of innovative medicines.

  • Work with specialist analytical equipment and complex chemistry in a growing CDMO.

  • Build broad technical capability across analytical development and GMP operations.

  • Be part of a supportive, collaborative team with a strong focus on quality and safety.
