About the role

We are seeking an organised, capable leader to join our Tauriko team as Assistant Coolstore Manager – Nightshift.

Supporting the Coolstore Manager, you will oversee nightshift coolstore operations, coordinate people and stock movements, and help ensure kiwifruit is stored, handled and dispatched safely and efficiently. Key responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the nightshift coolstore team, allocating work to meet operational priorities.

  • Oversee the receipt, storage and movement of kiwifruit, coordinating with production and dispatch teams.

  • Monitor coolstore temperatures and storage conditions, promptly reporting and escalating issues that could affect fruit quality.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure stock movements are recorded correctly.

  • Promote safe working practices, including forklift operations, pedestrian safety and manual handling.

  • Ensure company procedures and relevant health, safety, food safety and quality requirements are followed.

  • Identify equipment, facility and maintenance issues, arranging support or escalating as required.

  • Respond to operational challenges and make sound decisions to keep the shift running effectively.

  • Train, coach and support team members, setting clear expectations for safety, quality and performance.

  • Provide accurate shift reports and clear handovers to the management team and incoming shift.

  • Identify practical improvements to workflows, productivity and stock accuracy.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in kiwifruit coolstorage, post-harvest operations or a comparable warehouse or cold storage environment.

  • Previous supervisory or assistant management experience, or strong leadership skills and readiness to step into a management role.

  • An understanding of temperature control, product handling, inventory accuracy and food safety requirements.

  • A practical, organised approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Confidence leading people, communicating expectations and addressing issues constructively.

  • Sound judgement and the ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure.

  • A strong commitment to health and safety and the confidence to address unsafe practices.

  • Confidence using inventory systems and maintaining accurate operational records.

  • Reliability and availability to work the required nightshift roster.

  • The ability to carry out the role safely in a coolstore environment, including any required manual handling.

What we offer

  • Competitive remuneration reflecting your skills and experience.

  • A role with responsibility and the opportunity to contribute to our coolstore operations.

  • Support from an experienced management team.

  • Training and development to strengthen your leadership and operational skills.

  • Opportunities to progress your career within the kiwifruit post-harvest industry.

  • A supportive team environment with a strong focus on safety, quality and teamwork.
