Culham Engineering is seeking a reliable and organised Storeperson / Electrical Assistant to join our team in Whangarei in a full-time, permanent capacity.
Reporting to the Yard & Facilities Manager, you will play an important role in the day-to-day operation of our stores, helping to ensure goods, plant, equipment and consumables are received, recorded, maintained and available when our teams need them.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining stores and inventory responsibilities with electrical testing and tagging of leads and electrical equipment. You will work closely with our workshop, yard, production and site teams, so we are looking for someone who is practical, organised and comfortable working in a busy engineering environment.
About the Role
Your key responsibilities will include:
Receiving, checking and distributing incoming goods and deliveries
Preparing, checking and coordinating outgoing goods for delivery
Maintaining accurate records for plant, equipment and consumables
Issuing and receiving plant and equipment and keeping asset records up to date
Monitoring stock levels and assisting with monthly stocktakes and consumable ordering
Keeping the stores area organised and ensuring equipment is available when required
Managing the issue and records of staff overalls and lockers
Carrying out routine testing and tagging of electrical leads and appliances
Operating the asset tag printing equipment
Assisting with the basic care and maintenance of associated tools and equipment
Working alongside the electrician to support electrical safety within the workplace
Maintaining accurate records to support quality and job traceability requirements
Working with our production, workshop, site and yard teams to support efficient day-to-day operations
About You
You will ideally have:
Previous experience in a stores, warehouse or inventory control role
Experience working in an engineering or similar industrial environment
Good organisational and time management skills
Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Good communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
A practical, hands-on approach and good problem-solving skills
A commitment to workplace health and safety
A current full Driver Licence
A Forklift Licence
Experience with electrical testing and tagging would be advantageous, although this role may also suit someone with strong stores experience who is comfortable undertaking the electrical assistant aspects of the position.
