Contract: Fixed term or Secondment 9 Months

Recruitment Partner: Karen Nicholson

What you'll be doing

This is a nine-month fixed-term opportunity in Boots' Finance Development team, based on-site in Nottingham, where you'll help create a clear, consistent view of how Finance processes work across the business. You'll lead end-to-end process mapping, build and maintain the Finance process taxonomy, and turn operational detail into practical insight that supports better decisions and stronger governance.

Working closely with process owners and subject matter experts, you'll capture how work is performed today and highlight pain points, duplication, hand-off issues and control gaps. Your work will help shape a prioritised pipeline for Continuous Improvement, automation and wider Finance transformation, giving you visible impact across Finance from day one.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the discovery, documentation and validation of end-to-end Finance processes using agreed Business Process Management and BPMN standards
  • Build, structure and maintain the Finance process taxonomy so processes are consistently classified, linked and easy to navigate
  • Work closely with process owners and subject matter experts to capture current-state processes and agree accurate, practical outputs
  • Analyse process maps and supporting information to identify inefficiencies, hand-off issues, duplication, control gaps and improvement opportunities
  • Translate findings into clearly defined opportunities to support prioritisation for Continuous Improvement, automation and wider Finance transformation teams
  • Support process governance, quality reviews and change activity so documentation remains current, consistent and embedded across Finance
  • Challenge constructively where processes are unclear, inconsistent or creating unnecessary risk or rework
  • Manage multiple priorities independently while producing high-quality outputs within agreed timescales

What you'll need to have (our must-haves)

  • Interest and understanding mapping and analysing end-to-end business processes
  • A practical understanding of Business Process Management and process modelling standards
  • Confidence using structured mapping approaches such as swimlane process maps
  • Strong stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn detailed process information into clear insights and recommendations
  • The ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outputs within agreed timescales
  • Experience gained within Finance or another complex operational environment

It would be great if you also have

  • Experience using a Business Process Management tool - training will be provided
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma
  • Experience identifying opportunities for simplification, standardisation, automation or improved controls
  • Understanding of Finance processes, risks and controls across a large organisation

Where your brilliance can take you

This role is a strong step for someone who wants to build deeper experience in Finance process mapping, governance and improvement within a large, complex organisation. You'll gain exposure to Continuous Improvement, change activity and wider Finance transformation, while developing skills that can lead into future process excellence, operational improvement or Finance transformation roles at Boots. With training on the BPM tool and support from the team around you, you'll have the chance to grow your capability while making a real difference in Nottingham.
