Primary Function
The DeLong Co., Inc. Internship Program offers college students a complete immersion into agronomy, seed and grain operations, along with opportunities in other departments based on interest and need. Rather than following a rigid, pre-set schedule, your experience is shaped around you: your manager gets to know your interests and builds your day-to-day around what you want to learn. There is a core foundation every intern walks away understanding, and beyond that, it is an open door to explore the parts of the business you are most curious about.
If you are interested in a career in agricultural business, logistics, grain, seed or agronomy, an internship with us provides hands-on experience and industry insight to prepare you for your future. Many of our former interns become full-time DeLong Co. employees upon graduation.
Internship Tracks
- Agronomy/Seed: Gain hands-on experience across our agronomy and seed divisions, with exposure to many facets of the industry.
- Grain Operations: Get a comprehensive look at grain operations, including truck houses, rail loaders, container loaders and vessel loaders.
- Grain Merchandising: Gain real-world experience with the tasks and duties of a grain merchant.
- Rotational/Exploratory: Not sure which part of agriculture fits you best? Spend about two weeks with each of our divisions and departments, including agronomy, grain, accounting and transport. Toward the end of the summer, choose one area to return to for your final month.
- General Interest: We also welcome interns in other departments based on student interest and department need. Past examples include IT, Marketing, HR, Documentation and Credit Management.
