Mechanical Engineering Internship – HVAC
Location: Wetherill Park, Sydney
Employment Type: Part-time / Internship
New Edge Group is looking for Mechanical Engineering students who are interested in gaining practical, hands-on experience in HVAC and mechanical building services engineering.
This opportunity is designed to work around university commitments and provide students with exposure to the different stages of real HVAC projects.
Structured Training & Development
Successful candidates will undertake a structured two-year training program covering the full lifecycle of HVAC projects.
Months 1–6 | Tendering & Estimating
Training in project tendering, estimating, equipment selections, quantity take-offs, supplier quotations and preparation of mechanical services tender submissions.
Months 7–12 | Engineering & Design
Training in HVAC engineering and design, including CAMEL heat-load calculations, equipment selection, air and water system design, drawings, specifications, and application of the NCC and relevant Australian Standards.
Months 13–18 | Construction & Commissioning
Practical exposure to design coordination, RFIs, shop drawings, site inspections, installation requirements, testing, commissioning and project handover.
Months 19–24 | Service & Maintenance
Training in HVAC service and maintenance, including system operation, fault-finding, preventative maintenance and understanding the long-term performance of installed HVAC systems.
Career Opportunities
Following successful completion of the program, candidates will have the opportunity to progress into HVAC Design Engineer or Project Engineer positions, with longer-term pathways towards Senior Engineer and Project Manager roles.
