Are you the type of person who looks for solutions instead of waiting for instructions? Do you take ownership of problems and see them through to resolution? Do you want to build your technical skills while supporting a team of legal professionals?
HGR Graham Partners is one of Simcoe County’s largest, full-service law firms, with offices in Barrie, Orillia, Midland, Penetanguishene, and Elmvale. We offer a friendly, cohesive environment with opportunities for continuous professional development and learning. We pride ourselves on providing our team with work-life balance, competitive compensation, career progression, and a firm-sponsored benefits plan. We’re looking for a proactive, approachable IT Support Technician who can help our lawyers and staff make the most of our technology while ensuring our systems remain secure and reliable. This position will be based out of our Barrie office, with occasional travel to our other office locations across Simcoe County.
The IT Support Technician acts as our first point of contact for technology support, providing hands-on assistance for HGR Graham Partners’ staff across a mix of cloud and on-premises systems. Working alongside our external IT provider and IT leadership, this role manages troubleshooting, system administration and maintenance, and assists with infrastructure improvements and upgrades. The IT Support Technician provides day-to-day technical support across the Firm, onboards new staff, maintains reliable records, and follows issues through to resolution. We are looking for a proactive, service-oriented IT professional who enjoys solving problems, taking ownership of their work, and continuously looking for opportunities to improve systems and processes to join our team.
As an IT Support Technician, you will be responsible to:
- Provide friendly, clear support by phone, email, remote connection, and in person to ensure new and existing staff use Firm systems confidently.
- Support the Firm's legal and business applications, working with software vendors when specialist assistance is required.
- Log, prioritize, and track support requests, keep staff informed, and identify recurring problems and implement practical improvements.
- Manage employee onboarding and offboarding, ensuring employees receive the appropriate equipment, software, and system access while maintaining accurate asset, licence, warranty, and inventory records.
- Carry out Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Intune administration, including account support, device enrolment, and compliance checks.
- Create and maintain clear how-to guides and support procedures.
- Monitor system health, review backup and maintenance reports, support cybersecurity measures, and ensure compliance with the Firm's privacy, confidentiality, and information security requirements.
- Assist with technology upgrades, migrations, and rollouts through preparation, testing, staff communication, and training.
- Provide practical input on equipment needs, recurring issues, licence usage, and IT spending.
What You Will Bring:
- A minimum of two years of hands-on IT support experience; experience in the legal field would be considered an asset.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in IT, computer science or a related field.
- Relevant Microsoft and other IT certifications.
- Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft 365 administration, including Entra ID, Intune, MFA, and endpoint security, along with a willingness to develop these skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical colleagues.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing requests and recognize when to escalate.
- Careful handling of confidential information and a consistent approach to documentation and approvals.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with staff, IT leadership, and external providers.
- A valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and ability to travel across Simcoe County.
