The role
- Operating 20T GPS-equipped excavators on civil construction and earthworks projects.
- Completing bulk earthworks, site preparation, trenching, batter work, trimming and detailed finishing as required.
- Using GPS machine control systems to achieve accurate levels, grades and design specifications.
- Reading and interpreting civil construction plans, digital models and site information.
- Working alongside supervisors, surveyors and other operators to meet project targets.
- Conducting daily machine checks and reporting maintenance requirements.
- Maintaining high standards of safety, productivity and workmanship.
- Proven experience operating 20T excavators on civil construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience using GPS machine control systems, such as Trimble, Topcon or Leica.
- Strong understanding of levels, grades, earthworks and civil construction plans.
- The ability to work independently and achieve accurate results with minimal supervision.
- A strong commitment to health and safety.
- Reliability, a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Applicants should hold the appropriate New Zealand licences and endorsements for the duties they will undertake, which may include:
- A full NZ Class 1 driver's licence.
- A full NZ Class 2 licence where required for applicable heavy-vehicle driving duties.
- WTR endorsements.
- Current site safety training, such as ConstructSafe, advantageous where applicable.
- $35–$42 per hour, depending on experience and GPS capability.
- Daily travel allowances, subject to agreed eligibility criteria.
- Long-term work on a substantial civil construction project.
