As a sustainable and bootstrapped SaaS company growing steadily year on year, we've built a product customers genuinely love. We're a small team, which means flexibility and the chance for new people to make a real contribution to our culture as well as our growth.
Now we're looking for our first Community Manager.
This is a new role, reporting to the Head of Marketing. You'll build and look after a community of L&D professionals across New Zealand and Australia, both online and in person with the purpose of building advocacy and generating leads.
We'd like you to bring along your learning design or L&D background. The reason is simple: we want someone who can have a real conversation with other practitioners because they've done the work themselves, instead of marketing at them from the outside. We'll help you learn the marketing side.
What You'll Do
Organise and run meet-ups, webinars, workshops across New Zealand and Australia, and look after our presence at industry conferences.
Manage our social media channels day to day.
Take part in the places where L&D people already gather, such as forums, Slack groups and professional associations.
Build relationships with people across the community and keep them engaged.
Create content (articles, videos, modules and more) on topics that will resonate with L&D professionals and our defined target market segments
Work with our sales and customer success people so that interest coming out of the community gets followed up.
Find customers and community members who'd be happy to act as referrers, reviewers or speakers.
Use AI to work faster and smarter across content, planning and community activity.
About You
Around three to five years in learning design, instructional design or L&D.
An interest in moving into a community or marketing role. You don't need direct marketing experience, we'll help you learn that side of it.
Good writing skills and confidence using social media in a professional way.
A great connector and facilitator – we want you to curate spaces that give L&D professionals a platform to share, learn and ideate.
Comfortable running a webinar or standing up in front of a room, or keen to learn quickly.
An understanding that this role exists to help the business grow, and interest in the commercial side of how that happens.
Organised enough to keep several things moving at once.
Curious, collaborative and excited by AI-enabled ways of working.
Happy in a fast-moving startup with plenty of opportunities and challenges.
Willing to travel between New Zealand and Australia now and then, and to work the occasional evening around an event.
If you've run a community, organised events or been active in professional groups, tell us about it in your application.
A Few Things Worth Knowing
We're a startup, and this role hasn't existed here before. There's no handbook for it yet and you'll be working some of it out as you go. You'll get direction, support and coaching from the Head of Marketing, but you also need to be someone who can make a call and get on with it.
How Success Will Be Measured
Growth in community size and engagement
Delivery and attendance of our events programme
Advocacy outcomes such as referrals, reviews and customer stories
Contribution to marketing generated pipeline
