A growing, modern accounting firm in central Auckland is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join its Business Advisory team. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with clients, taking ownership of relationships, be part of a firm that embraces AI and is growing their advisory space.

This firm isn't just talking about AI — they’re actively using it. That means this role will suit someone who is curious, adaptable and excited about how technology can change the way accountants work. You don't need to be an AI expert. However, you do need to be open to new technology and interested in finding smarter ways to deliver great outcomes for clients.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll manage a portfolio of clients across their accounting, tax and advisory needs, including:

• Reviewing annual compliance work, including financial statements and tax returns

• Reviewing GST returns prepared by outsourced teams

• Managing client relationships and communicating directly with business owners

• Taking jobs from start to finish, including managing budgets and cashflows

• Identifying opportunities to provide broader business and value-add advice

• Working alongside an outsourced team while maintaining quality and client service

• Contributing to a growing advisory offering within the firm

• You can expect roughly 30% of your work to involve value-add and advisory services, with scope for this to grow.

What we're looking for

You’ll ideally bring:

• Solid Senior Accountant-level experience

• Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to build strong client relationships

• Good commercial awareness and an interest in advisory work

• A willingness to embrace new technology and AI tools

• A practical, collaborative approach to working with both clients and outsourced teams
