About the role
This is a full-time position commencing January 2027, combining classroom teaching, assessment, student support, and clinical placement supervision.
You will play an important role in supporting students throughout their learning journey, from developing their knowledge and practical skills in the classroom to applying these skills in real healthcare settings.

You will be expected to adapt to these arrangements as required while maintaining the quality of teaching, assessment, and student support.
Key responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, learner-centred lessons that support students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
Assess student work, including clinical placement assessments and workbooks, provide constructive feedback, and meet required marking deadlines.
Prepare students for clinical placement, including assessing their professional practice readiness and reinforcing workplace expectations.
Monitor and support students during their placements through regular communication, online catch-ups, and visits to healthcare facilities.
Monitor student progress, identify learners who need additional support, and provide appropriate academic guidance and mentoring.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with healthcare facilities and placement providers.
Maintain accurate student records, attendance, assessment results, and placement documentation in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
Contribute to programme reviews, teaching resource development, moderation activities, and ongoing professional development.
You will work closely with the Programme Leader, Clinical Placement Coordinator, and wider academic team to ensure students receive consistent support throughout their programme.
What We're Looking For
Ideally, you will have:
At least three (3) years of relevant experience working in the New Zealand healthcare sector, preferably in aged care, disability support, community health, or related healthcare services.
A relevant healthcare qualification, preferably at degree level or higher.
Previous teaching, training, mentoring, or clinical supervision experience, preferably within adult or tertiary education.
A good understanding of professional practice standards and expectations within New Zealand healthcare settings.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support students from diverse backgrounds.
Good organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage teaching, assessment, and clinical placement responsibilities.
Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and digital learning platforms, including Microsoft Teams.
An understanding of the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework and competency-based assessment practices would be an advantage.
A recognised adult or tertiary teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one with professional development support.
Other Requirements
Legal right to work in New Zealand.
A full, current New Zealand driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle, as the role involves travelling to healthcare facilities for clinical placement visits.
Willingness to travel to placement facilities across the Auckland region as required.
A genuine passion for healthcare education, mentoring, and supporting adult learners.
A collaborative, adaptable, and proactive approach to working within an academic team.
