Some roles call for a special combination of warmth, sound judgement and the confidence to work through challenging conversations. This is one of them.
Our client, Rangiura, is looking for a Village Manager professional who will take the time to understand people, communicate thoughtfully and keep the day-to-day details moving. You will be an important point of contact for village residents and their whānau, while guiding prospective residents through the decision to make Rangiura their home.
About Our Client
At Rangiura, people and relationships matter. Their village is a community where residents should feel respected, connected and confident that their concerns will be heard.
Guided by the values of being trustworthy, respectful, accountable and compassionate, Rangiura is looking for someone who brings these values to life through everyday interactions, decisions and follow-through.
About the Role
Reporting to the CEO, you will bring together resident support, village administration, community engagement and sales.
You will get to know residents, support their wellbeing and help build a positive village community. Alongside this, you will respond to sales enquiries, show prospective residents around and coordinate the information and documentation needed to support a smooth move to Rangiura.
Your key responsibilities include:
Building trusted relationships with residents and their whānau, and maintaining regular, meaningful contact
Responding to resident enquiries and concerns, working through issues respectfully and following up on agreed actions
Supporting village activities, events and resident meetings
Managing sales enquiries, arranging viewings and maintaining contact with prospective residents
Supporting marketing initiatives and open days to promote the village and available homes
Coordinating sales documentation and liaising with residents, families, lawyers and the wider Rangiura team
Keeping village records, communications and reporting accurate and up to date
Working with the relevant teams to follow up maintenance requests and coordinate unit refurbishments
Supporting village compliance, health and safety, and continuous improvement.
About You
You are an experienced communicator who understands that how you say something matters just as much as what you say.
You listen carefully, explain things clearly and recognise when a conversation needs a little more time or sensitivity. When someone is upset, persistent or has expectations that cannot readily be met, you can remain calm, acknowledge their concerns and work towards a practical way forward. You are comfortable setting clear boundaries and delivering a difficult message without losing warmth or respect.
You also understand that moving into a retirement village is a significant decision. Your approach to sales will build confidence by providing relevant information, thoughtful follow-up and an understanding of what matters to each prospective resident.
You will bring:
Experience in a role involving customer relationships, operational coordination or community support
Well-developed communication skills, including experience resolving concerns and navigating difficult conversations.
Sales or marketing experience, with confidence managing enquiries and following opportunities through
Strong administration skills and careful attention to documentation
The ability to organise your workload, manage competing priorities and keep people informed
Sound judgement, discretion and the confidence to seek support when needed
Confidence using Microsoft Office and learning new systems
A clean driver’s licence.
Experience in retirement villages, aged care or a similar environment would be helpful. We are also interested in people with relevant experience from other sectors who understand the importance of residents’ independence, dignity and choice.
Your experience in understanding and complying with legislative requirements including reporting and working with External Auditors and Statutory Supervisors will elevate your application.
