Kitchen Lead

Brittany House is home to 62 fabulous residents and bringing them joy and comfort is why we love our work. Food is a huge part of our residents' quality of life, so we're looking for a Kitchen Lead who cooks with pride and loves bringing out the best in a team.

About the role

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who will take real ownership. You'll coach your team, serve food you're proud of, and run the kitchen as if your name were above the door by looking after every dollar and meeting every standard. You'll also work closely with our clinical team, finding practical ways to make their jobs easier and help every resident get the right meal, every time.

What you'll do

Coach and grow your team

•    Build a positive, capable kitchen team through everyday coaching, feedback and training

•    Recruit, review and develop team members

•    Roster all kitchen staff

Cook with pride

•    Lead by example, preparing and serving food that residents look forward to

•    Deliver our menus, recipes and systems to a consistently high standard

•    Add the personal touches that make residents feel at home

Run it like your own business

•    Manage the kitchen budget, and track spending to reduce waste

•    Manage inventory and ordering so everything is ready for service

•    Streamline processes and look for better ways of working

Keep us compliant

•    Maintain our Food Control Plan and meet the requirements of the Food Act 2014

•    Set clear cleaning and safety standards, and ensure they are followed every day

Work as one team with clinical staff

•    Communicate regularly with the clinical team about residents' dietary needs and changes

•    Solve problems together so that care and kitchen work smoothly side by side

What you'll bring

•    Strong people leadership and coaching skills

•    Proven experience cooking and leading in a commercial kitchen

•    Experience managing budgets, stock and food costs

•    Working knowledge of the Food Act 2014 and Food Control Plans

•    Outstanding communication skills with all departments

•    A reliable, friendly, "can do" attitude and a sense of humour

•    Experience in aged care (an advantage)
