We’re looking for a commercially minded Sales & Business Development professional to join a well established Auckland property maintenance and building services business.

This isn’t a desk-bound sales role where success is measured by how many calls you make.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys getting out, meeting people, walking sites, spotting opportunities and turning conversations into work.

Our clients include commercial property owners, property and facilities managers, schools, insurance companies, councils and other public-sector organisations. We deliver everything from planned maintenance and painting through to remedial works, repairs and project/minor works.

There is an established operation behind you.  Your job is to find the opportunities, build the relationships and win the work.

What you'll be doing

You’ll take ownership of business development across Auckland, identifying new opportunities while growing relationships with existing clients.

That could mean:
  • Getting in front of new commercial clients and developing genuine relationships
  • Building networks across property managers, facilities managers, schools, insurers, councils and commercial property owners
  • Visiting sites and understanding what the client actually needs
  • Walking a building and spotting maintenance, repair and improvement opportunities
  • Following up leads, enquiries, tenders and quotations
  • Working with the estimating team to develop practical solutions and competitive proposals
  • Following opportunities through from first conversation to winning the work
  • Negotiating and closing new business
  • Growing existing accounts and generating repeat work
  • Keeping a strong, accurate sales pipeline and CRM
  • Identifying upcoming projects and maintenance opportunities before they become competitive tenders
  • Working closely with estimating, operations and project teams to ensure a smooth handover
  • Representing the business professionally across Auckland’s property and building sector
We’re looking for someone who gets it!  You don't necessarily need to be a qualified builder.  But you do need to be commercially savvy and comfortable around buildings.

You might come from a background in:
  • Building
  • Construction
  • Property Maintenance
  • Facilities Management
  • Insurance
  • Commercial Property
  • Building Services
Perhaps you've been in sales, business development or account management and have developed a strong understanding of the building/property sector.
You’ll be someone who can walk onto a site, have a conversation with a property manager or facilities manager, understand the problem they are trying to solve and recognise where there may be an opportunity for the business.

You’ll also understand that winning the work is only part of the job.  It's about winning the right work at the right margin and handing it over properly is what makes a good salesperson commercially valuable.  While building trust.

What you'll bring
  • Proven sales, business development or account management experience
  • Practical knowledge of building, construction, property maintenance or a related industry
  • A strong commercial mindset
  • Confidence dealing with commercial clients and decision makers
  • The ability to identify and develop new business opportunities
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills
  • Excellent follow-up; you don't let opportunities disappear
  • Confidence visiting sites and talking through maintenance and building requirements
  • An understanding of project costs, pricing and profitability
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills
  • Excellent organisation and pipeline management
  • The ability to work collaboratively with estimators, project managers and trades
  • A professional, straight-up approach with clients
  • Full NZ driver's licence
Your network will count!

The personality fit matters

We're looking for someone who is confident without being pushy, commercially driven without being transactional, and practical enough to understand how the work actually gets done.

What's in it for you?

This is an opportunity to join an established Auckland business where your relationships, ideas and ability to generate business will make a visible difference.
