About the role (0.6FTE)Rapid's Aware product vertical is building AI-powered tools that help keep workers safe on job sites, including video analytics, access management, and permit-to-work systems. To train and validate these models, we need clean, well-labelled data, and that's where you come in.
As a Data Annotator, you'll review, label, and quality-check data (images, video, and structured records) that feeds directly into our AI and machine learning products. You'll work alongside our product, engineering, and QA teams in our Sydney office, giving you a genuine look at how a software company builds and ships real products.
This is a great fit for university students or recent graduates who want practical, resume-worthy experience in tech, AI, or software, without needing prior industry experience.
What you'll be doing- Labelling and annotating images, video footage, and datasets according to defined guidelines
- Reviewing existing annotations for accuracy and consistency
- Flagging edge cases, ambiguous data, or guideline gaps to the team
- Maintaining a high standard of attention to detail across repetitive tasks
- Working with spreadsheets and internal tools to track annotation progress
- Collaborating with QA and engineering to help refine labelling guidelines over time
- Currently studying (any discipline) or a recent graduate looking to build industry experience
- Strong attention to detail and comfortable with repetitive, precision-focused work
- Reliable and able to commit to 3 set days per week, in person at our Sydney office
- Comfortable with basic computer tools (spreadsheets, web-based platforms)
- Good written communication, for raising questions or flagging issues clearly
- No annotation or AI experience required. We'll train you on our tools and guidelines
- Interest in AI, machine learning, or computer vision
- Background or study in computer science, data science, engineering, or similar
- Prior casual/part-time work involving data entry, QA, or admin tasks
