Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the full engineering project portfolio, prioritising workload based on sales commitments, delivery timelines and business objectives.
- Act as the technical authority for mechanical designs, reviewing, approving and conducting design reviews with workshop supervisors before releasing drawings to procurement and production.
- Mentor engineering staff, ensuring technical accuracy, quality and manufacturability.
- Provide hands-on technical support to fabricators and welders, resolving workshop issues, recommending repair strategies and implementing design improvements.
- Undertake physical inspections, dimensional measurements and 3D scanning of existing mining equipment, attachments and structural components.
- Attend workshops, client facilities and mining sites as required to undertake inspections, measurements, scanning and engineering verification.
- Process 3D scan data and point clouds to develop accurate CAD models and undertake reverse engineering of existing mining assets.
- Independently produce detailed engineering and fabrication drawings from existing physical assets, including replacement components and assemblies.
- Design and develop new mining equipment, buckets, trays, attachments and structural components from concept through to fabrication-ready documentation.
- Prepare detailed fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, cutting profiles, bills of materials and technical specifications.
- Develop bucket and tray designs for proposals and the Company's design library, including repeat and new product development.
- Deliver refurbishment projects end-to-end, including 3D scanning, reverse engineering, modelling replacement components and preparing fabrication documentation.
- Drive research and development activities across buckets, trays and structural mining equipment to improve performance, durability and repairability.
- Design and deliver tailored structural solutions to support sales opportunities, including maintenance platforms, repair stands and portable service equipment.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, material specifications and component compatibility to ensure designs are suitable for manufacturing and operational requirements.
- Liaise with sales, procurement and production to ensure engineering outcomes align with commercial and operational requirements.
- Unrestricted Australian working rights.
- Minimum Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years' relevant engineering experience.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in 3D scanning, dimensional measurement, reverse engineering and CAD modelling.
- Proven ability to independently inspect, scan and measure existing mining assets and produce accurate fabrication-ready engineering drawings.
- Strong experience in designing and documenting new mining equipment, attachments and structural components.
- Proven experience in 3D modelling and engineering drafting.
