About the Role
Our client is a diversified financial services and investment group with businesses spanning funds management, real estate and alternative investments, private lending and financial technology platforms, with a strong focus on Australia and Asia.
Our client is looking for a smart, curious and commercially minded Accountant to join a growing finance team.
This is an opportunity for someone who has built a solid foundation in accounting and now wants to go beyond traditional financial reporting. You will have exposure to financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, AI-enabled analysis, finance systems, systems implementation and process improvement.
The role will suit someone who enjoys working with numbers, data, technology and people - someone who can identify an issue, understand the underlying cause and then use technology and AI to develop and implement a practical solution.
Our client is particularly interested in someone who is bright, analytical and naturally curious. You do not need to know everything on day one. What matters is that you have strong accounting fundamentals, learn quickly and have the curiosity and initiative to understand how the business works and how things can be done better.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Manage day-to-day accounting and financial management activities
Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
Perform balance sheet reconciliations and assist with cash flow and working capital management
Analyse financial results and identify key trends, issues and opportunities
Assist with year-end accounts, audit and external reporting requirements
Maintain strong financial controls and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information
Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis
Assist with the annual budgeting and planning process
Prepare forecasts, financial models and scenario analysis
Analyse actual performance against budget and forecast
Investigate variances and communicate the key drivers to management
Prepare analysis to support commercial and investment decisions
Analyse financial and operational data to identify trends, risks and opportunities
Develop financial models and ad-hoc analysis
Use AI tools and solutions to enhance financial analysis, research, modelling, data interpretation and reporting
Use AI to analyse large volumes of financial and business information and identify useful insights
Explore new AI capabilities and identify practical applications within the finance function
Finance Systems, AI & Process Improvement
A key part of the role will be helping the finance function become more efficient, automated and data-driven.
You will:
Learn and take ownership of the finance systems used across the business
Identify opportunities to improve accounting and finance processes
Assist with the implementation and optimisation of accounting and ERP systems
Use AI tools to assist with the design, implementation, testing and optimisation of finance systems and processes
Use AI to help map processes, identify inefficiencies, develop solutions and improve workflows
Identify repetitive or manual tasks that can be improved through AI, automation or better system design
Use AI to assist with system configuration, data analysis, data cleansing, testing, troubleshooting, documentation and implementation
Improve the quality, accuracy and accessibility of financial data
Develop and enhance management reports and dashboards
Work with internal stakeholders and external software providers on system improvements
Translate finance and business requirements into practical technology solutions
Improve controls, workflows and processes through better use of technology and AI
Business & Commercial Analysis
Analyse financial and operational data to identify trends, risks and opportunities
Support management with commercial and strategic analysis
Turn complex financial information into clear and actionable insights
Research markets, businesses and investment opportunities using traditional analytical techniques together with AI-enabled tools
Use AI-assisted tools to analyse financial, operational and market information
Work with management across different parts of the business to support decision-making
Develop a broad understanding of the group's businesses and investment activities
Continuously identify ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function
About You

You will ideally have:
A degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline
2+ years' experience in accounting or finance, although exceptional candidates with less experience will be considered
Strong accounting fundamentals and an understanding of financial reporting
Exposure to budgeting, forecasting or financial analysis
Strong Excel skills and confidence working with data
Experience with an accounting, ERP or financial management system
Practical experience using AI tools for analysis, research, implementation, process improvement or productivity
An interest in technology, automation and process improvement

AI, Systems & Technology
You do not need to be a technology expert or programmer.
However, you should be someone who is comfortable with technology, actively uses AI tools and is genuinely interested in how AI and technology can improve the way finance operates.
Our client is particularly interested in candidates who can use AI not just to generate information, but as a practical problem-solving and implementation tool.

You don't need to be an AI expert. Our client is looking for someone who is curious about AI, uses it effectively and can identify where it can genuinely add value - from analysing financial information through to implementing better systems and processes.
If you have taught yourself a new system, built an Excel model, automated a repetitive process, used AI to analyse information, used AI to help implement or troubleshoot a system, or found a new technology that made your work faster or better, our client wants to hear about it.
