Graduate Geospatial Developer

MGN Civil is a specialist marine civil contractor that specialises in technically difficult projects. We are a company who prides itself in delivering cost effective & timely projects for our clients. We are fair, reliable & always aim to seek a win/win outcome between us and our clients. We have a niche capability in the rock wall, ground improvement and bulk earthworks space currently operating in throughout Australia.

We're now wanting to add a Graduate Geospatial Developer to our Geospatial & Digital team in Brisbane.

The Graduate Geospatial Developer turns geospatial data into tools that make civil construction faster and more accurate. The role supports the site teams, and the project engineers to analyse our as-built construction data with the project design.

The role will require regular travel to construction sites in Southeast Queensland to assist with creation, management, and retrieval of geospatial data.

You will manage and analyse spatial data, build scripts and applications that automate repetitive workflows, and support field surveys on active sites. Over time you will grow into the team's go-to person for spatial automation and AI-assisted data processing.

The role is a real mix of:

🗺️ Spatial analysis and mapping in ArcGIS and QGIS

🐍 Python and FME automation

☁️ Web tools, REST APIs and AWS

🚁 Drone, LiDAR and RTK GNSS work on live sites

🤖 Testing AI models for imagery and data processing

The qualifications and skills you will need to be successful

  • A degree (completed within the last 2 years, or graduated upon commencement) in Geographic Information Science, Surveying and Spatial Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field.

  • A combination of spatial and IT qualifications is highly regarded.

  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS; spatial analysis, cartography and coordinate systems

  •  Programming in Python (including ArcPy, Pandas or NumPy) and at least one other language such as C# or JavaScript

  •  SQL and relational databases; experience handling large spatial datasets i.e. UAV data capture, LiDAR and 3D point cloud processing.

  •  Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D.
