About the role

This is a hands-on, physically active role responsible for ensuring bakery trays, buckets, crates and production equipment are cleaned and sanitised to the required standard and returned to production ready for use. This is a physical role in a wet washbay environment. You will regularly handle bakery trays weighing approximately 2.5 kg each and will be lifting, stacking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, standing and walking throughout the shift.

Key responsibilities

• Operating the crate washer to clean bakery trays, crates and equipment

• Loading dirty trays and equipment into the crate washer

• Removing clean trays from the discharge end and stacking them onto pallets

• Using a pressure washer/water blaster to remove heavy food residue and soiling

• Cleaning buckets and other bakery production equipment

• Using water hoses and approved cleaning and sanitation chemicals

• Moving cleaned trays and equipment using a pallet jack/trolley

• Maintaining a clean and safe washbay area

• Following food safety, hygiene and health and safety procedures

• Wearing and correctly using required PPE

About you

• Reliable with a strong work ethic

• Comfortable working night shift

• Physically capable of performing repetitive manual-handling tasks

• Comfortable working in a wet environment

• Can safely operate cleaning equipment including a pressure washer

• Good awareness of workplace health and safety

• Can follow cleaning, hygiene and food-safety procedures

• Can work independently and as part of a team

• Takes pride in keeping equipment and work areas clean

• Has reliable transport to and from work
