Property Maintenance and Compliance Officer
Eastpro — part of The Agency Group | Gisborne
Practical, organised and proud of a job well done? Put your trade or maintenance experience to work in a varied, hands-on role helping keep Gisborne rental homes safe, well maintained and compliant.
Eastpro is looking for a capable Property Maintenance and Compliance Officer who enjoys working independently, spots issues before they become bigger problems, and follows through. If you have a background in trades, building or property maintenance—and enjoy planning work as much as getting it done—we’d like to hear from you.
The role
Working closely with our Property Management team, you’ll combine practical work with inspections and forward planning. You’ll help ensure maintenance and compliance requirements are identified, recorded and kept on track.
Your responsibilities will include:
Visiting rental properties to complete smoke alarm and Healthy Homes compliance checks.
Testing, installing and replacing smoke alarms as required.
Recording clear inspection findings and photographs, and identifying maintenance or compliance issues.
Developing and maintaining preventative maintenance and compliance schedules.
Carrying out minor maintenance and compliance-related jobs.
Working professionally with Property Managers, tenants and contractors to coordinate work and follow up on outstanding issues.
What you’ll bring
You’re someone who takes ownership, uses sound practical judgement and understands that the details matter. You can organise your day, communicate clearly and treat tenants’ homes with care and respect.
We’re looking for:
A practical background in trades, building or property maintenance.
Confidence using basic tools and completing minor repairs.
Strong organisation skills, ideally with experience planning preventative maintenance or managing scheduled work.
A keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to identifying problems.
Confidence using a phone or tablet to record inspections and photographs.
Reliability, clear communication and a professional manner.
A full New Zealand driver’s licence.
A willingness to learn and apply property compliance requirements.
Previous property compliance experience would be an advantage, but we’re also keen to hear from people with transferable practical skills and the right approach.
Why join Eastpro?
Enjoy a role that gets you out from behind a desk, offers variety across your working week, and gives you the independence to manage your day with support from our Property Management team.
You’ll see the value of your work firsthand—helping prevent problems, keeping maintenance on track and making a meaningful difference to the homes people live in.
