Kiwi Campers is one of New Zealand’s leading campervan rental companies, with a large and diverse fleet travelling throughout New Zealand every day.
We’re looking for a skilled and reliable Mechanic to join our Christchurc workshop team. This is a hands-on role where no two days are quite the same. You’ll be working on everything from smaller campervans and cars through to larger motorhomes, keeping our fleet safe, reliable and ready for customers.
What you’ll be doing
Your role will involve a wide variety of mechanical and maintenance work, including:
Carrying out servicing, inspections and general mechanical repairs
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults
Preparing vehicles for rental and ensuring they meet our safety and quality standards
Completing pre- and post-rental inspections
Carrying out COF-related repairs and maintenance
Electrical fault finding and basic auto-electrical work
Brake, suspension, steering and engine repairs
Assisting with vehicle breakdowns and urgent repairs when required
Completing preventative maintenance across the fleet
Keeping accurate records of work completed
Working closely with our workshop and operations teams to keep vehicles moving
Because we operate a rental fleet, getting vehicles repaired efficiently and to a high standard is critical. You'll need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly.
About you
We’re looking for someone who:
Has a relevant automotive qualification and/or strong industry experience
Has excellent diagnostic and mechanical skills
Can work independently and take ownership of jobs
Takes pride in producing quality workmanship
Has good attention to detail
Works well under pressure and can prioritise competing jobs
Has a strong commitment to health and safety
Is reliable, practical and willing to get stuck in
Has good communication skills and works well as part of a team
Holds a full NZ driver's licence
Experience working on campervans, motorhomes, light commercial vehicles or rental fleets would be an advantage, but isn’t essential.
