About the Role:

This sole-charge, weekly payroll role supports around 350 to 400 people. You'll own payroll from day one, with scope to build backup support with a colleague elsewhere.

Day-to-day, you'll:
  • Run the end-to-end weekly pay cycle accurately and on time
  • Process new starters, leavers and day-to-day pay changes
  • Handle a mix of pay types, including irregular hours and casual staff
  • Pull reports and data from multiple systems for ad hoc requests
  • Support the rollout of a new time and attendance system

About You:

Ideally you'll bring solid knowledge of NZ payroll legislation and leave entitlements, plus a proven end-to-end track record. Experience with payroll or HR platforms and intermediate Excel skills are a bonus. Don't tick every box? Apply anyway if this sounds like you.

You'll also be:

Approachable and easygoing, building rapport and keeping things drama-free
Reliable, delivering the weekly pay run accurately and on time
A clear, confident communicator across a wide range of people

What's On Offer:

You'll get real ownership and autonomy within a small, friendly team led by a relaxed manager. Big enough for interesting work, small enough to avoid heavy policy, this organisation offers one day a week working from home and a central office near a train station and bus stop. A thorough handover from the outgoing payroll officer will help you hit the ground running.

We believe diversity is vital to a healthy, high-performing workplace. That’s why we’re committed to delivering a psychologically safe recruitment experience. One that uncovers and celebrates your strengths. If traditional hiring processes don’t bring out your best let us know. We want you to shine, not shy away.
