We’re looking for an experienced transport or logistics professional who combines strong operational knowledge with genuine commercial drive. You’ll lead a small, experienced team while actively identifying new business opportunities and growing the branch across South Canterbury.

The Role
As Branch Manager, you’ll have responsibility for the overall performance of the Timaru operation, servicing Timaru Metro, Temuka and inland routes including Tekapo and Twizel.
Your focus will be on:

  • Leading a team of approximately 5–6 across operations and transport
  • Driving regional sales and new business opportunities
  • Growing existing accounts and strengthening key customer relationships
  • Managing day-to-day freight, fleet and depot operations
  • Making commercially sound decisions around internal fleet utilisation and third-party carriers
  • Supporting freight movements connected with rail and port operations
  • Working closely with national and regional leadership to support wider business objectives
What We’re Looking For
Industry experience is essential. You’ll need a strong understanding of the transport and logistics industry but equally important is your ability to build business and make commercially smart decisions.
You’ll bring:
  • At least 5 years of proven freight, transport, logistics or freight forwarding experience
  • A hands-on leadership style and willingness to get involved
  • A track record in sales, business development or growing customer accounts
  • Strong understanding of transport costs, scheduling and fleet utilisation
  • Experience leading and developing operational teams
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
The Opportunity
There is genuine scope to grow the Timaru branch and its market presence, particularly around expanding freight and container activity.
You’ll have the autonomy to identify opportunities, develop relationships and make decisions that directly impact the branch’s performance.

What’s On Offer
  • $110,000–$120,000 base salary
  • Plus, a $17,000 vehicle allowance
  • Relocation support available for the right person
  • Opportunity to lead and grow a key regional branch
If you’re commercially driven, know the transport and freight industry, and want the opportunity to lead a branch and grow a business, we’d like to hear from you.
