Dementia Care New Zealand (DCNZ) is one of New Zealand's leading and innovative aged care providers. We're looking for an experienced Registered Nurse with strong clinical leadership skills to join us as a Regional Clinical Manager.

Dementia Care NZ pioneered the 'Small Homes' and 'Best Friends Approach to Care' concepts in New Zealand. For over twenty years we have cared for older people, specialising in people living with dementia.

Based in Christchurch, you will lead the clinical teams at a group of our facilities. You will be the first point of clinical support and direction for the Clinical Managers in your region.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Leading person-centred care across your sites, so that each resident is cared for as an individual, with care
built on who they are, their needs and their choices, not their diagnosis.

  • Supervising, supporting and developing Clinical Managers, including monthly supervision, orientation of new Clinical Managers and annual appraisals

  • Identifying clinical risk early, and leading the response to incidents, serious events, complaints and reporting to outside agencies.

  • Keeping each facility audit-ready, including safe medicines management and clinical compliance audits before certification and surveillance audits.

  • Reporting on your sites to the Clinical Governance Group and contributing to quality improvement and benchmarking.

  • Working with the Education Coordinator and Clinical Supervision and Practice Advisor on training and development for Registered Nurses.

  • Building strong relationships with residents, families, GPs, allied health professionals and health agencies.

What you bring to the role:

  • At least five years' experience in the New Zealand health sector, including experience with older people, mental health or primary care.

  • Previous clinical management experience.

  • Solid clinical skills and a genuine commitment to person-centred care for people living with dementia.

  • Strong communication, people leadership and organisational skills.

  • A postgraduate health qualification, or working towards one.

  • A current Annual Practising Certificate with no conditions on practice.

  • A full clean driver's licence and the ability to travel regularly to our sites.

Our vision is to accept all people with kindness and love. To provide peace, comfort and joy. To be proactive, innovative and courageous. To enrich each person, the community and the world.

Mā te whakarīrā o te matawhānui nei ka tutuki. Ma te tautika, ma te ngākau pono, ma te ngākau tapatahi, ma te ngakau whiwhita hoki ka tāea.

We strive to achieve this vision by working with openness, honesty, integrity and passion.

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
