Ready to take your manufacturing experience in a new direction?
You might already work with machinery, mix ingredients or materials, follow recipes or production specifications, or work in an environment where getting the measurements and quality right really matters. If you're ready to use those skills in something different, we'd like to hear from you.
Skellerup Rubber Services (SRS) is looking for a reliable and experienced person to join our manufacturing team in Penrose. Previous rubber experience isn’t essential; we'll provide the specialist training you need to learn this unique area of manufacturing. What you do need is relevant work experience, an eye for accuracy and quality, and the discipline to follow processes carefully and consistently.
About the role
This is a varied, physically demanding manufacturing role producing high-quality rubber compounds and moulded products.
You’ll be trained in specialist rubber processing techniques including compound preparation, mixing, milling and moulding using equipment such as Banbury mixers, mills, guillotines and injection/compression moulders
Your work will include:
accurately measuring, weighing and mixing materials, including larger-volume batches
operating and monitoring manufacturing machinery and equipment
following production specifications, formulations and work instructions carefully
carrying out quality checks and maintaining accurate production records
recognising when something doesn't look right and knowing when to stop and ask before a mistake is made
maintaining a safe, clean and well-organised work environment
working closely with others to achieve production and quality requirements.
Good training in rubber mixing, milling and moulding will be provided. As your knowledge and capability develop, you'll take increasing responsibility for operating equipment and managing different aspects of the production process.
What we're looking for
We know you might not have rubber manufacturing experience, but we're interested in the transferable skills and experience you can bring from other production environments. You may have worked in manufacturing, plastics, food production, commercial baking, processing, machine operation or another environment where accuracy, quality and following the right processes are essential.
We're particularly interested in experience involving:
accurate measuring, weighing or mixing of ingredients or materials
machinery, mills, rollers or other production equipment
working within established quality standards
following detailed instructions, recipes, formulations, processes or procedures accurately and consistently
working in an environment where safety and quality can't be compromised
very good spoken and written English, with the ability to understand and follow written and verbal safety instructions, formulations, work instructions and production documentation
a full driver's licence
the ability to safely undertake a physically demanding role, including lifting up to 25kg’s
a reliable work history
honesty and a strong sense of personal responsibility.
The team
SRS has a close-knit, multicultural team where people work together and help each other. A strong teamwork ethic is an important part of how the team operates.
You'll need to be comfortable working with people from different backgrounds and bring a flexible, tolerant, helpful and respectful approach. Someone who cares about the quality of their own work and about the people working alongside them will fit in well.
