B2B Marketing & E-Commerce Manager
Part-time | Monday–Thursday, 8.30am–4pm | Mount Wellington, Auckland
You Monkey is a New Zealand distributor of toys, games, gifts and homeware, supplying retailers throughout the country with a great range of international brands.
We're looking for an experienced, hands-on marketer to join our small team and take ownership of our B2B marketing.
We're after someone who knows their way around Mailchimp, is confident working with Shopify and Excel, and has a good eye for design and detail. Just as importantly, you'll need to be organised, proactive and able to manage several projects at once while keeping everything on track.
About the role
This role is all about keeping our retail customers up to date with new products, brands and promotions, and making it easy for them to shop with us.
Email marketing is a big part of the job, so we're looking for someone who genuinely knows Mailchimp and has experience creating great-looking campaigns, building automated flows and working with customer segments.
You'll be responsible for planning and delivering our marketing campaigns from start to finish, from deciding what needs to go out and when, through to creating the content, building the campaigns and getting them live. You’ll create polished newsletters, build automated customer journeys and use segmentation to deliver relevant communications.
You'll also look after content on our Shopify website, create social content and support our sales team with marketing materials and trade shows.
You'll be juggling several projects at once, so you'll need to be organised, manage deadlines and plan ahead. We're looking for someone who takes ownership of the marketing calendar, thinks about what's coming up and makes sure we're working ahead rather than leaving things until the last minute.
It's a varied, hands-on, in-office role working closely with our directors and sales team.
What you'll be doing
Email marketing and Mailchimp
Plan, create and send regular B2B newsletters featuring new products, brand launches, seasonal ranges and promotions.
Design and maintain professional, well-laid-out Mailchimp templates.
Set up and manage automated email flows, including welcome emails, follow-ups and customer reactivation campaigns.
Build and manage customer segments based on purchasing history, customer type and engagement.
Track campaign results and look for ways to improve performance.
Customer data and Excel
Work with Excel to organise, clean, filter and prepare customer and sales data.
Manage Mailchimp customer lists, imports, tags and audience fields. Ongoing database management is essential.
Use customer and sales data to help plan more targeted marketing campaigns.
Shopify and content
Keep our Shopify wholesale website up to date, including products, collections, images, tags and homepage content.
Write clear, engaging product descriptions and marketing copy.
Make sure product information is accurate and easy for retailers to find and place orders.
Social media, sales support and trade shows
Create and schedule simple social media posts using product imagery and brand assets.
Work with our sales team on promotions, new product arrivals and marketing activity.
Put together marketing and sales materials when needed.
Help organise and prepare for trade shows, including displays, promotional materials and customer communications.
Maintain the marketing calendar, coordinate upcoming campaigns and make sure deadlines are met.
What we're looking for
At least 3 years' relevant marketing experience, particularly in email marketing.
Strong Mailchimp experience is essential. You'll need to be confident creating templates, managing campaigns, setting up automated flows and working with segmentation.
Hands-on experience with Shopify, including product and website content management.
Strong Excel skills, including working with customer lists, sorting, filtering, cleaning data and using formulas.
Strong writing and proofreading skills, with excellent attention to detail.
A good eye for design, layout and imagery, and experience with Canva or similar design tools.
Experience creating and scheduling social media content.
Able to plan, create and execute marketing campaigns independently, taking them from initial idea through to delivery and reporting.
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities, meet deadlines and stay ahead of upcoming campaigns without needing constant direction.
Someone who takes initiative, follows through on tasks and enjoys being hands-on.
Experience with Make (formerly Integromat) would be a bonus.
B2B marketing experience would be ideal, but we're also happy to consider someone with a strong B2C email marketing and e-commerce background who can apply those skills to a wholesale/retailer audience.
Hours and location
This is an office-based position at our Mount Wellington office, working Monday to Thursday, 8.30am–4pm.
An immediate start is available for the right candidate.
We're a small team, so we're looking for someone who enjoys working alongside others, is happy to get involved and can take ownership of their work.
Why join You Monkey?

You'll have the opportunity to manage our B2B marketing, bring your own ideas to the table, work closely witht he sales team and see the results of your work in terms of customer engagement and orders.
