Salary up to £50,000 depending on experience
Wimbledon based - onsite Monday to Friday
Technical ownership across infrastructure, networking, Windows environments and security
Established business offering autonomy, varied technical work and long-term career development

ABOUT THE CLIENT
We're supporting an established IT services business in Wimbledon that's looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join its technical team.
The business works closely with its customers, taking the time to understand their environments and deliver reliable, well-considered technical solutions.
Unlike some traditional IT services environments, the focus here isn't on rushing through support tickets or chasing resolution numbers. It's about having the technical knowledge, ownership and attention to detail to investigate issues thoroughly and deliver solutions that work.
They're looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on, has confidence in their technical ability and wants to settle into a business where they can make a genuine long-term contribution.

THE SENIOR INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER ROLE
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you'll take ownership of more complex technical issues across customer infrastructure, networking, Windows environments and security systems.
You'll act as a senior technical resource within the team, troubleshooting escalated problems, managing infrastructure changes and ensuring customer environments remain secure, reliable and well maintained.
The role offers plenty of variety, from investigating network and firewall issues through to supporting Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy and wider infrastructure projects.
You'll also have the opportunity to work with Microsoft 365, SharePoint and cloud-based technologies, although extensive cloud experience isn't a prerequisite.
If you've built your career around traditional on-premise infrastructure, networking, systems administration or a mixture of these technologies, your experience could be highly relevant.
The key is having genuine technical depth, understanding the systems you're working with and being comfortable taking responsibility for resolving complex issues.
Previous MSP experience isn't essential. We'd be equally interested in engineers who have worked within internal IT or infrastructure teams and have developed strong technical ownership of their environments.

SENIOR INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Strong hands-on experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Systems Engineering, 3rd Line Support or a similar technical role
Solid understanding of Windows Server environments and Active Directory
Good networking knowledge, including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VLANs and routing fundamentals
Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure or network issues
Practical understanding of firewalls, network security and connectivity
Experience managing or troubleshooting Group Policy
Ability to investigate technical issues, identify root causes and implement appropriate solutions
Confidence taking ownership of technical escalations and working independently
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to customers and colleagues
A methodical approach to troubleshooting and an emphasis on delivering quality technical solutions
Able to work onsite in Wimbledon five days per week
Interested in building a long-term career within an established technical business

Desirable, but not essential

Fortinet, FortiGate or other enterprise firewall technologies
Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Azure or Intune
Virtualisation technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V
Scripting or automation experience
Security incident investigation and root cause analysis
Previous MSP or managed IT services experience
We're not looking for someone who simply has an extensive list of technologies on their CV. We're interested in engineers who can demonstrate a genuine understanding of the systems they've worked with, explain how they've applied that knowledge and take ownership when things go wrong.
