Position Description:
We are seeking an experienced Backend Developer (Node.js) to join our consulting team and work with a major banking client. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in AWS security, encryption algorithms, and backend development using Node.js. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable backend services in a cloud native environment.
The project is currently in the planning stage, with details being finalized with the client. We’ll keep you updated on the next steps.
Job responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js.
• Implement, secure, and optimize cloud solutions using AWS services.
• Apply AWS security best practices, including IAM, key management, and encryption.
• Implement secure data protection mechanisms relevant to financial systems.
• Build and maintain robust, scalable, and well documented RESTful APIs.
• Create and maintain API specifications using Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar.
• Collaborate with DevOps, QA, architecture, and product teams to deliver high quality solutions.
• Troubleshoot production issues and participate in on call rotation as needed.
• Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture planning.
• Work in an agile environment, participating in design, implementation, and deployment.
• Proactively collaborate across teams using Slack, GitHub, Jira, Confluence, and video conferencing tools.
• Support production releases as needed.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• 3+ years of professional experience with AWS, including IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, VPC, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, and CloudWatch.
• 3+ years of experience developing backend services in Node.js, including RESTful APIs and Swagger/OpenAPI documentation.
• Hands on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
• Strong understanding of secure key handling, encryption, data protection, and cloud native/microservices architectures.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills including proactive risk management and mitigation experience. Works well independently as well as part of a team
Nice to have:
• Experience using artificial intelligence tools to improve quality and efficiency of coding activities including GitHub Copilot, M365 Copilot, or others.
• Experience working in regulated industries (banking or financial services) is a plus.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Jest or Mocha.
• Comfortable working in an Agile/SCRUM environment.
• AWS Developer Certification is a plus.
Please note that the role requires 8 hours of work per day, typically during standard CET business hours, with flexibility to adjust the schedule as needed to align with the client’s North American working hours.
