MAYDAY Technical Recruitment is partnering with an HVAC contractor to recruit a Senior Mechanical Engineer for its Sydney Olympic Park office.
This is an opportunity to lead mechanical design projects, work closely with clients and construction teams, and support the development of other engineers.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will take projects from initial design through to completion, providing technical leadership across health, education, residential and commercial projects.

Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage HVAC design projects from initiation to completion.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standards.
- Collaborate closely with project managers and subcontractors to integrate design and construction activities.
- Conduct critical design reviews and provide value engineering solutions.
- Assist with commissioning, troubleshooting and handover documentation.
- Maintain regular communication with clients throughout project lifecycles.
- Attend site and client meetings to resolve design challenges.
- Conduct system calculations, audits and technical reviews.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards and legislation.
- Provide technical input for tenders, including site inspections and budget estimates.
- Mentor and support team members, building a positive and collaborative culture.
- Support training and development initiatives across the construction team.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Required Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- At least seven years of local experience delivering mechanical design projects specifically with HVAC.
- CPEng/NER registration.
- Design Practitioner registration.
- Experience leading mechanical design projects from initiation to completion.
- Experience across health, education, residential and commercial projects.
- Strong understanding of construction processes and engineering standards.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
