Temporary Procurement Assistant
Location: Bishop’s Stortford
Pay Rate: £14. 10 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Working Hours: 8:30am / 9:00am start, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
Contract: Temporary, approximately 3–4 weeks
Start Date: As soon as possible

The Opportunity

SMT Recruitment are currently working with a well-established business who are looking for a Temporary Procurement Assistant to join their team for approximately 3–4 weeks.
This is an office-based role supporting the Procurement team with day-to-day purchasing activities, supplier communication and general administration. The successful candidate will help ensure orders are processed accurately and deliveries are managed efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
Checking product codes, descriptions, quantities and pricing before orders are placed.
Raising and issuing purchase orders in line with company procedures and budgets.
Liaising with suppliers regarding product availability, lead times and delivery schedules.
Confirming delivery dates and communicating updates to relevant teams.
Tracking orders and proactively dealing with delays or supply chain issues.
Arranging substitute or replacement products where required and updating internal systems.
Maintaining accurate purchasing records and documentation.
Supporting the Warehouse and Finance teams with stock receipting, purchase order reconciliation and invoice checks.
Building positive working relationships with suppliers and internal colleagues.
Providing general support to the Procurement team to ensure the smooth running of daily operations.

About You
Previous experience in procurement, purchasing or administration would be beneficial.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Confident communicating with suppliers and internal teams.
Good organisational and time management skills.
Confident using Microsoft Office and internal computer systems.
Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
Available to start immediately and commit to the temporary assignment.
