The Role
Reporting to senior management, you will take ownership of the bid and tender process from initial opportunity assessment through to submission, ensuring tenders are commercially competitive, technically robust and delivered within strict deadlines.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing end-to-end tender submissions across roads, water, utilities, airports and defence infrastructure.
- Coordinating with estimating, engineering, operations and commercial teams to develop competitive tender strategies.
- Reviewing tender documentation, specifications, contractual requirements and project risks.
- Working closely with senior management to assess opportunities and establish bid strategies.
- Coordinating internal resources, subcontractor pricing, supplier quotations and technical inputs.
- Developing tender programmes, submission schedules and bid documentation to ensure deadlines are met.
- Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and value engineering initiatives to strengthen submissions.
- Managing tender reviews, ensuring accuracy, compliance and quality across all submissions.
- Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of bid management processes.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in bid management, tender management or a senior estimating role within the civil construction industry.
- A background working for a civil contractor, ideally within a Tier 2 or Tier 1 environment.
- Exposure to infrastructure projects across roads, water, utilities, airports or defence.
- Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of construction methodologies, project costs and contractual arrangements.
- The ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities across several tenders.
- Exceptional written communication, organisation and attention to detail.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage with senior management and operational teams.
