About the role

This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who enjoys working across day-to-day accounting, reporting, reconciliations, compliance and process improvement. You'll work closely with senior management, oversee our Finance & Accounts Administrator and have the support of Quinovic's Group office to ensure our financial operations are accurate, efficient and well managed.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, supplier payments, client billing, bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance and month-end processes

  • Reconcile rental income, short-term rental commissions, maintenance costs and third-party expenses, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded to trust account standards

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and performance analysis to help management understand how the business is tracking

  • Supervise and support the Finance & Accounts Administrator, allocating work, monitoring accuracy and ensuring financial tasks are completed on time

  • Prepare GST returns, oversee bond lodgements and refunds, maintain appropriate financial controls and support compliance with IRD requirements

  • Assist with budgets, cash flow forecasts, financial modelling and KPI reporting

  • Work with an external accounting firm to coordinate year-end accounts, tax returns and other financial requirements

  • Maintain and improve accounting systems and workflows, including MYOB, QPMS and Hostaway, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve accuracy

  • Respond to finance queries, work with Property Managers and Operations Managers to resolve issues, and provide practical financial insights to support business decisions

  • Manage additional finance tasks, from investigating discrepancies to improving reporting and supporting new initiatives

About you

  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience. CA or CPA studies would be an advantage

  • Around 2–4 years' relevant accounting experience, ideally in a broad, hands-on role

  • A solid understanding of accounting principles, trust account reconciliations, GST and month-end processes

  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting software and financial systems

  • Experience supervising, coordinating or mentoring a team member, with the ability to manage workloads and maintain quality standards

  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage high volumes of transactions accurately

  • Strong organisation and time management skills, with the ability to juggle competing priorities and meet deadlines

  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the confidence to investigate issues rather than simply flag them

  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with people across different teams

  • A willingness to take ownership, support others and continuously improve how things are done
