Our Queensland Government client is seeking a Senior Advisor (Crane Data - State-controlled Roads) will provide specialised network and data support for the collection, analysis, validation and conversion of crane-related road, structure and access datasets required to implement crane access for State-controlled roads in the National Automated Access System (NAAS). You will ensure existing permit-based access arrangements, route requirements, infrastructure constraints and operational conditions are translated into complete, accurate, traceable and NAAS-ready datasets that support reliable automated access decisions, release readiness and ongoing network expansion.

Key responsibilities
  • Identify, source, consolidate and maintain priority crane-related datasets for State-controlled roads, including route, road, structure, restriction, condition and access information.
  • Analyse and validate crane access data against current permits, notices, approved routes, infrastructure constraints, operational requirements and road manager decisions.
  • Convert permit-based and other existing crane access requirements into NAAS-ready data structures aligned with approved policy settings, business rules and decision logic.
  • Undertake data profiling, quality assurance, reconciliation and gap analysis, and coordinate remediation actions with districts, regions, Structures, asset owners, policy specialists and technical experts.
  • Support NAAS configuration, User Acceptance Testing and system validation by preparing test data, confirming expected access outcomes, investigating data-related defects and recommending resolution or escalation pathways.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, data definitions, data lineage, decision records, conversion rules and business-rule documentation to support traceability, assurance and enduring data stewardship.
  • Monitor and report data collection, validation, conversion and remediation progress, including dependencies, defects, residual risks and matters requiring escalation.
  • Prepare clear technical advice, readiness assessments, briefings and recommendations for project governance, operational and executive decision-making.
Expected deliverables
  • A prioritised inventory of State-controlled (and possibly local)  road crane datasets, source owners, data dependencies and completeness assessments.
  • Validated crane route, road, structure, restriction, condition and access datasets, with identified gaps and agreed remediation or escalation actions.
  • NAAS-ready crane data structures and conversion outputs aligned with approved business rules, access conditions and decision logic.
  • Data quality, reconciliation and assurance records demonstrating completeness, accuracy, consistency, traceability and fitness for operational use.
  • Test data, expected outcomes, defect assessments and resolution recommendations supporting UAT and system validation for State-controlled road crane access.
  • Technical documentation covering data definitions, lineage, transformation logic, assumptions, decision records and future stewardship requirements.
  • Progress and readiness reporting confirming data conversion status, unresolved defects, residual risks, required decisions and post-release remediation actions.
  • Handover and knowledge-transfer products for nominated enduring business and data owners.
Capability
- The successful candidate will demonstrate substantial experience in data analysis, data quality, network or spatial data management, transport operations, heavy vehicle access, asset information or a closely related environment. They will have the ability to work with complex road, structure, route, restriction and access datasets from multiple sources and to translate operational and policy requirements into accurate, traceable and implementable data products.
- The role requires strong analytical and problem-solving capability, attention to detail and the ability to identify data gaps, reconcile conflicting information, assess operational impacts and coordinate practical remediation. Demonstrated experience supporting system implementation, data conversion, UAT, defect resolution, automated decision-making, GIS or network data environments will be highly regarded.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills are essential, including the ability to work effectively with districts, regions, structures, asset owners, policy and project teams, technical specialists and operational users. The successful candidate will also possess highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear technical documentation, data assurance records, progress reports, briefs and recommendations for technical, operational and executive audiences.
- There are no mandatory qualifications; however, relevant qualifications or substantial experience in data analytics, information management, geographic information systems, transport, engineering, planning, asset or network management, information systems or a related discipline will be favourably regarded.
