BONZ is one of New Zealand’s longest-standing luxury apparel brands, crafting premium shearling garments, knitwear, leather goods, and homewares since 1972.

Our products are made in our Invercargill factory using high-quality natural materials, and our Queenstown store is a flagship destination for local and international customers seeking luxury New Zealand design, craftsmanship, and service.

By the end of November we are opening a pop-up store on the international airside High Street at Auckland Airport. The pop-up runs to the end of April 2027, and both BONZ and Auckland Airport intend to extend it if the store trades well.

We are looking for an Assistant Store Manager to run the evening trade at the new store.

This role would suit an experienced luxury or premium retail seller who has run a shift or a small team, stays calm when it is busy, and is comfortable holding the keys.

About the Role
This is a full-time role based airside at the international terminal. It is fixed term to 30 April 2027 to match the pop-up, but that is where we start, not where we expect to finish. If the store trades well, we will extend, and the role will become permanent.

You will be second in charge, running the floor through the evening departures, closing the store, and covering the Store Manager’s days off. Your shifts are 1:45pm to 10:45pm, Thursday to Monday.

The store trades 4:30am to 10:30pm, seven days, so the team works a seven-day roster including weekends and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run the floor through the evening departure banks and close the store

  • Deliver high-quality, personalised service to international travellers and lead the evening team by example

  • Meet and exceed individual and store sales targets

  • Support the Store Manager with rostering, training and reporting, and run the store on their days off

  • Maintain store presentation, visual merchandising and stock accuracy

  • Manage cash, POS and end-of-day procedures, and keep the store compliant with airport operating rules

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in luxury or premium retail, including running a shift or a small team

  • A strong personal sales record and a relationship-based selling style

  • Excellent spoken and written English; Mandarin or another Asian language is an advantage

  • Confident, polished and professional, and reliable with keys, cash and closing

  • Comfortable with POS systems and standard computer software, including email, Word and Excel

  • Able to pass the security check for an Auckland Airport ID card, and have the right to work in New Zealand

Employment Details

  • Full-time, fixed term to 30 April 2027 to match the pop-up, becoming permanent if the store trades well and we extend

  • Minimum 40 hours per week, 1:45pm to 10:45pm, Thursday to Monday

  • Hourly rate: $32- $34 per hour, depending on experience

  • Commission and performance-based incentives

What We Offer

  • A leadership role in a new store for a well-established New Zealand luxury brand

  • Full product and brand training

  • A clear step up from the floor to store management

  • The opportunity to work with high-quality New Zealand-made products

If you would like to be considered for this role, please apply with your CV and a brief cover note outlining your experience and suitability.
