About this role

The Events Manager will support the Project Managers and Events Director in planning, coordinating, and successfully delivering a major international event hosted locally in New Zealand.

This role involves coordinating event logistics across multiple workstreams, managing stakeholder and supplier relationships, supporting venue operations and assisting with delegate management, registration and accreditation requirements.

You'll work closely with internal teams, venues, government representatives and event partners to ensure operational requirements are effectively coordinated and delivered.

From event planning and supplier coordination through to onsite operations and post-event closeout, you'll play an important role in ensuring the successful delivery of a complex, high-profile event.

The role requires an experienced events professional who can manage competing priorities, work collaboratively across multiple teams and respond confidently to changing operational requirements.

About you

You're an experienced events professional with a strong background in event management, conference coordination or major event delivery.

You've coordinated everything from venue logistics and supplier relationships to delegate services and onsite event operations, ensuring all the moving parts come together seamlessly.

You're confident working with diverse stakeholders, have exceptional attention to detail and know how to remain calm and solutions-focused when plans change.

You enjoy working as part of a collaborative team, take ownership of your responsibilities and bring a proactive, adaptable approach to delivering successful events.

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

  • Proven experience in event management, conference management, corporate events or major event delivery.

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple event workstreams, suppliers and stakeholders simultaneously.

  • Strong understanding of event logistics, venue operations and onsite event delivery.

  • Experience coordinating suppliers, venues, catering, production requirements and other event services.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.

  • Experience supporting event budgets, supplier negotiations, invoicing and financial administration.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport quickly.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to resolve operational challenges effectively.

  • A proactive, adaptable and collaborative mindset, with the ability to work independently and contribute to a wider project team.

  • Experience working on large-scale international conferences, government events or other high-profile events would be highly regarded.

  • Experience with event registration and management platforms, delegate accreditation processes or coordinating international delegations would also be advantageous.
