NZ Nature Fund is an enduring independent charitable trust that channels philanthropic and corporate capital into New Zealand’s highest-impact conservation work. Working closely with the Department of Conservation and other delivery partners, it backs bold, science-led projects that restore ecosystems at landscape scale and give our most threatened species a path back from the brink. NZNF is currently leading an $80 million campaign to restore Maukahuka/Auckland Island, in partnership with DOC and Ngāi Tahu.
The role:
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Fundraising and Marketing Lead grows sustainable income for conservation by leading NZNF’s individual giving programme, including public appeals, one-off donations and regular giving. You’ll own the supporter journey from first interest through to ongoing giving, and generate qualified enquiries for major gifts, corporate partnerships and bequests.
A major focus will be public fundraising and marketing for the Maukahuka/Auckland Island campaign. You’ll grow the database, acquire and retain donors across email, digital, peer-to-peer and direct mail, build NZNF’s brand as New Zealand’s most trusted pathway to conservation, and manage the marketing budget and agency relationships. You’ll work closely with the Senior Development Manager and a fundraising coordinator, in a small team where hands-on delivery is part of the job.
You will need the following:
- 8+ years’ experience in marketing, communications and individual giving fundraising, including leading campaigns, budgets and programmes
- Demonstrated success generating qualified leads, acquiring donors, and improving conversion
- Hands-on experience with paid digital campaigns, CRM segmentation, automated journeys and campaign reporting
- Experience managing budgets and briefing external agencies or suppliers
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to turn conservation work into compelling reasons to give
- Genuine commitment to New Zealand’s natural environment and conservation outcomes
