About us

We’re a New Zealand-owned national infrastructure and digital technology business, based on the Wellington CBD fringe with offices in Auckland, Palmerston North and Christchurch. Our rapid growth has made us a recognised leader in our industries. Clients across government and the private sector choose us for our technology, service and ongoing support, and we have ambitious plans for what comes next.

The opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Accountant who wants real ownership and accountability, along with room to grow.

You’ll join a forward-thinking finance team working closely with a newly appointed CFO. We’re adaptable, open to new ideas and always looking for better ways to do things. We share knowledge, support each other and believe work should be challenging, rewarding and enjoyable.

Working closely with the CFO, you’ll help lead the wider finance function and shape financial decision-making across the business, now and as we grow. This is a broad role spanning financial and management accounting. It offers depth, challenge and plenty of variety.

What you’ll do

Financial accounting and reporting

• Lead the group’s consolidated month-end close, including reporting, working papers, reconciliations, accruals and journals

• Prepare the annual financial statements and manage the year-end process

• Maintain the fixed asset register, including leases, fleet and capital expenditure

• Manage tax compliance (GST, income tax, FBT, PAYE) and other regulatory obligations

• Keep the balance sheet accurate through regular reviews and reconciliations

Management accounting and business partnering

• Produce divisional and group management reporting, with clear commentary on performance and variances

• Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning

• Analyse project and contract performance, including WIP, margins and labour utilisation

• Provide insight into sales, inventory, procurement and cost drivers to support business decisions

• Work with operational managers to build financial understanding and accountability

Finance operations and controls

• Oversee billing, accounts receivable and accounts payable, against key performance indicators

• Support payroll management and reporting on leave and employee costs

• Strengthen internal controls, policies and procedures across the finance function

• Improve data integrity across finance and project management systems

Leadership and improvement

• Work closely with the CFO, contributing to financial decisions

• Help lead, coach and develop the finance team

• Drive continuous improvement in finance processes, systems and controls

• Contribute to ad hoc projects as the business grows

What you’ll bring

• A tertiary qualification in accounting or a related business discipline

• CA or CPA membership

• Solid experience across both financial and management accounting, ideally in a multi-entity or project-based business

• A track record of building strong working relationships with senior management

• Experience producing high-quality reports and presentations to tight deadlines

• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders

• Experience in business analysis or system implementation will be an advantage

What we offer

• An excellent salary package

• A Wellington CBD fringe location

• Career development and a genuine commitment to ongoing learning

• A diverse, energetic team with a great culture
